When Kathy Belton was 18 years old, her life was forever changed by injury. Not only did her injury have profound impacts on her own life, but it had a ripple effect on her friends, family, community and beyond.
Now, as the associate director of the , Belton works in injury prevention advocacy, programming and research. With approximately 1,931 ß÷ßäÉçÇøns dying, 28,809 ß÷ßäÉçÇøns hospitalized and 429,741 ß÷ßäÉçÇøns visiting emergency departments from injury each year, injury prevention is an important public health issue for all of us. Injury does not discriminate and it knows no boundaries.
