Program Information

The ß÷ßäÉçÇø Research Experience (UARE) provides a unique opportunity for talented senior undergraduate students from key partner universities around the world to conduct research under the supervision of U of A faculty members.

We are proud to offer international students the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a wide variety of disciplines at a Top 5 university in Canada. In turn, they develop valuable research skills and gain real-world experience contributing to the research of experts in their academic discipline. 

Research placements are typically available to start during the winter (January) and summer (May through July). Exact start dates depend on the host professor. End dates are automatically made to be 12 weeks from the start date.

Student participants receive an award of $6,000 CAD from the ß÷ßäÉçÇø, which will help cover the costs associated with participating in the 12-week program. Please review our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for details of the settlement services and supports we provide to research internship participants, along with more details of the costs associated with participating.

Thanks to all of our stakeholders, we are able to help foster and develop the next generation of research talent, both at home and abroad. Some of our partnerships allow for ß÷ßäÉçÇø students to participate in research internships at those universities.
