 e3 offers ß÷ßäÉçÇø instructors the opportunity to teach short-term courses abroad — connecting academic learning with international experience, community engagement, and hands-on student learning.


Overview

e3 is a short-term, immersive learning opportunity that combines academic coursework, language learning, and internships in Berlin, the French Alps, and Brazil. The program emphasizes hands-on, community-engaged learning experiences that connect students with local organizations and social contexts in their host communities.

We invite proposals from instructors passionate about socially engaged teaching, reciprocal learning, and building connections between classroom content and community realities, both globally and locally.

What we're looking for

We are seeking instructors who are passionate about interdisciplinary, experiential, and community-engaged teaching in international contexts. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a commitment to accessible, inclusive learning and be excited to connect course content with local communities abroad. A strong interest in supporting student growth through global, hands-on experiences is essential.  Instructors must have the capacity to direct market their course to students. 

Course Features: 

  • Language of instruction can be English or French.
  • Equivalent of 3 U of A credits 
  • Designed to engage students across disciplines, with no prerequisites required.
  • Incorporate experiential learning tied to local settings (e.g., field visits, Community Service-Learning (CSL) activities).
  • Align with the values of the  (UNDRIP),   (UNSDG),  and the , encouraging socially responsible learning. 
  • May be cross-listed for graduate credit (optional).

From its complex past to its vibrant arts scene, startup culture, and activist networks, Berlin provides endless opportunities for students to connect classroom learning with lived experience.
