Radiation Oncology Fellowship
Clinical Research Fellowships in Radiation Oncology
Applications are invited from junior faculty or trainees in their final year of specialist training in Radiation Oncology for a one-year fellowship commencing by 1 July 2026. Opportunities exist in most disease sites including head & neck, breast, lung, gynecologic, genitourinary, central nervous system, gastrointestinal, hematologic, dermatologic, sarcoma, pediatrics and palliative radiation oncology.
Location
The Cross Cancer Institute, affiliated with the ß÷ßäÉçÇø, is a free-standing comprehensive cancer treatment and research facility, and the tertiary referral centre for Northern ß÷ßäÉçÇø. The division of Radiation Oncology serves a population base of 1.5 million people and treats more than 4000 patients per year. We have two wide-bore CT simulators with 4D capability. We are well-equipped for the delivery of conformal, intensity-modulated, RapidArc, and stereotactic body radiotherapy, as well as low dose rate, high dose rate, surface, intraoperative and ocular brachytherapy. We offer both linac-based and Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery. The department houses 8 linear accelerators and an orthovoltage machine, as well as an active MR-Linac development program. The Centre for Biological Imaging and Adaptive Radiotherapy houses a cyclotron for research PET radiopharmaceutical production and imaging, a 3-Tesla functional MR unit, and a 9.4-Tesla basic science research magnet. Well-established collaborations exist in the areas of population genomics, pharmaco- genomic and radiogenomic profiling. There is a comprehensive, integrated provincial IT network comprising electronic medical record and digital imaging systems. We have a strong record of basic, translational and clinical research, including national and international clinical trial activity and cooperative group membership.
Training Opportunity
Candidates will be expected to spend approximately half of their time devoted to research and half to clinical duties, with some flexibility based on specific interests of the fellow and departmental needs; this will be negotiated with the successful applicant(s).
Completion of scholarly activity with appropriate staff guidance and within the tenure of the fellowship is required, with an expectation of presentation of data at a national and/or international meeting, and at least one publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Clinical duties may include new patient or follow-up clinics, on-treatment review or inpatient coverage.
Eligibility
Applicants must be physicians who will complete specialist training in Radiation Oncology by June 30, 2025, or who have completed training within the last three years. Fellows must be competent in spoken and written English. If medical training was in a language other than English, evidence of successful achievement of the ß÷ßäÉçÇø College of Physicians’ requirements on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Occupational English Test (OET) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) must be provided with the application package. Please see for further information and a list of countries exempt from this. Candidates must be eligible for educational licensure in the Province of ß÷ßäÉçÇø. Remuneration will commensurate with post- graduate scales defined by the ß÷ßäÉçÇø.
How to Apply
Please submit your CV along with a cover letter indicating your interests and goals in addition to three letters of reference and either TOEFL, OET or ILETS test results.
